Althea House has been supporting children on Child Safety orders since July 2023 and will continue to play a very important role in nurturing children and keeping them safe.  The service provides 24 hour, 7 days a week home-like accommodation for children from birth up to, and including, 12 years of age.

Access/referral to the Althea House is through Child Safety only.

Because of the diversity of children’s experiences, the staff at Althea House are committed to meeting the individual needs of each child living at the house. Staff are trained to recognise and respond appropriately and empathetically to any trauma informed behaviours that may arise.

The service is established within a residential suburb of Townsville to provide a safe environment for children to live in. 

Althea House can only be accessed through a referral from the Department of Child Safety.
