The Queensland Child Safe Standards came into effect on 1 October 2025. At Althea Projects, the safety and wellbeing of children is at the heart of everything we do. Althea Projects proudly reaffirms our commitment to being a child safe organisation.
We are actively reviewing and strengthening our existing child safe practices to align with the new standards, ensuring that children are safe, heard, and respected in every space we operate. Child safety is everyone’s responsibility and at Althea Projects, it’s a responsibility we take seriously.
Althea Projects has zero tolerance to any child being harmed in any way. We are committed to creating environments where all children and young people feel safe, respected, valued, and empowered and have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
All Althea Projects representatives take responsibility to play their role in ensuring children and young people are safe and feel safe. As an organisation guided by the Queensland Child Safe Standards, Althea Projects commits to the standards below.
Every decision and action we make will prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
We will take the views of children and young people seriously and they will be involved in decisions that affect their lives.
Including their culture, language, beliefs, gender, and abilities. We are especially committed to creating culturally safe spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
We will prioritise our actions to enable children and young people to thrive in a caring, nurturing environment where they are encouraged to dream big and reach their full potential.
We will use plain child friendly language and explain what we are doing and why.
We will respect, value and include family and community to support children and young people.
We will respond to concerns and complaints in a way that is fair, respectful, and focused on the needs of children and young people.
Everyone who works with children and young people will be trained, supported, and committed to keeping children and young people safe.
Our leaders and governance structures will actively promote child safety and wellbeing as a core organisational value.
Our policies and procedures will clearly document how we keep children and young people safe and guide our staff in upholding these standards.
We will design and manage our spaces and digital platforms to promote safety and wellbeing and minimise the risk of harm.
We will regularly review our practices and seek ways to improve what we do to strengthen our capacity to child safety and wellbeing.
Althea Projects takes any breaches to this Statement of Commitment, Child Safe Code of Conduct and other related child safety and wellbeing policies and procedures seriously. Such breaches may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal and any other available legal remedies.
